“EXCHANGE ON DOMESTIC WASTE COLLECTION MANAGEMENT AND COLLECTION EQUIPMENT CHANGE OF INDEPENDENT WASTE COLLECTORS” CONFERENCE

On 10th April 2019, Enda Vietnam collaborated with DONRE to held up conference about “EXCHANGE ON DOMESTIC WASTE COLLECTION MANAGEMENT AND COLLECTION EQUIPMENT CHANGE OF INDEPENDENT WASTE COLLECTORS”. In this conference, with the presence of Mr. Pham Van Thach who is Vice Prime Ministry of DONRE and more than 300 representatives of relevant units such as DOLISA, department of transport, department of Tax, Department of Justice, Department of Finance, district PC, companies and independent waste collectors in Ho Chi Minh city.

At the conference, representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment reported on “Collection – transportation of solid waste at source in Ho Chi Minh City” – focus on independent waste collectors. In this session, IWCs had opportunities to directly dialogue to Department of Natural Resources and Environment and other related departments on difficulties and problems when implementing decision no. 38/2018 / QD-UBND on Collection prices and decision no. 44/2018 / QD-UBND with contents related to changing collection equipment (Chapter 3-Article 9). Representatives from IWCs mentioned difficulties related to changing means of collection such as finance, the mismatch between the size of truck and collection route, driving license, hired driver cost much money etc.

This is an opportunity for IWCs raise their voice directly to authorities. Through this, many difficulties, problems of IWCs in process of implementing relative decisions were recognized by government/ authorities and discuss to find the solutions.
