Responding to “World Cleanup Day 2019”, on 8th September, Enda Vietnam cooperated with Thu Duc District People’s Committee, Division of Natural Resources and Environment to organize “LAUCHING CEREMONY Action for Thu Duc district to become clean and reduce flooding on the occasion of World Clean Up Day 2019” Cleanup the canal in no.40 street, Linh Dong commune, Thu Duc district”.
This intervention is on project Towards a Higher Effectiveness (THE) of the INFORMAL SECTOR of waste pickers in the MSWM and increased recycling of valuable waste components with a focus ON PLASTICS, achieved by increased social protection and income for Independent Waste Collectors. This event including series of activities:
- Hanging communication banners about waste separation at source, combatting plastic pollution and environment protection.
- Organizing launching ceremony on 8th September at Linh Dong commune, Thu Duc District. There have participations of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Thu Duc District People’s Committee, representatives of District Party and other related departments such as the District
Division of Natural Resources and Environment, District Youth Union, representatives of People’s committee of 12 wards, and 280 youths from Youth Union and community people together with mass media. - After launching ceremony, representatives of government, youth union of Thu Duc Districtand local people conducted cleanup the canal on no.40 street at Linh Dong commune with the technical support of private sector.
With activities mentioned above, Enda Vietnam has the aims of raising awareness for community people on their responsibilities with domestic waste. And then, calling for community together taking action for waste separation at source combatting plastic pollution, especially marine plastic pollution for saving environment.
